Psychiatry | Equitas Health

Sometimes living a full, healthy life calls for medication.

Bodily pain or stress can lead to mental, behavioral, or emotional pain. Mental stress, in turn, can cause your body pain. Our psychiatric nurse practitioners gauge the effects of mental illness on your body and your mind.

Medication is a critical part of mental wellness for some people, but not for everyone.

Before you are prescribed any meds, you will meet with an Equitas Health mental health counselor. The two of you will decide if medicine would be helpful to your care. If so, you will meet with a psychiatric nurse practitioner. The psychiatric nurse practitioner will look at your health record, past care and support, and help you make a plan of care that works for you.

On your journey to good mental health, you might mix our psychiatry services with mental health counseling and support groups—or you might not. It is vital for you to know that there is no “one-size-fits-all” method for mental health.

As a psychiatry patient at Equitas Health, you can expect:

  • A team made up of your psychiatric nurse practitioner and other Equitas Health doctors, nurses, and therapists who will work for you.
  • A healthcare plan made by you and your provider.
  • Mental health checks throughout your care.
