RuPaul’s Drag Race finalist, singer, comedian, and gifted make-up artist Jujubee will bring her fashion and flair to the 2024 AIDS Walk Ohio in downtown Columbus on April 20. The 5k walk, 5K run, and 1-mile stroll annually raises funds and awareness for people living with HIV in Ohio.
Jujubee will co-host the event’s opening ceremonies at Genoa Park and perform at the after-party at Axis Nightclub in the Short North.
The Boston-based drag performer sashayed her way into hearts and homes on season 2 of Drag Race. She also appeared on seasons 1 and 5 of Drag Race All Stars, finishing in the top 3. Jujubee and three other Drag Race alums later appeared on TLC’s makeover series Dragnificent! She now brings her quick wit and bold style to the annual AIDS Walk Ohio.
People can still sign up to walk, run, or volunteer. To register or donate, visit www.aidswalkohio.com.
Food trucks, vendors, and a DJ will be at Genoa Park, located at 303 W. Broad St. Check-in for the event starts at 9 AM. The program begins at 9:40 AM on the amphitheater stage. The 5K run begins at 10:30 AM, followed by the 5K walk & one-mile stroll. Events at the park end promptly at noon, but the celebration continues that evening with a performance by Jujubee at Axis Nightclub, 775 N. High St.
Proceeds from the walk help people living with HIV reach and maintain an undetectable viral load. Undetectable equals untransmittable. This means they can live longer, healthier lives without passing the virus to their sexual partners. Proceeds also increase access to medications like PrEP that is 99% effective at preventing HIV.
The 2024 AIDS Walk Ohio is supported by Gold Sponsors: Cardinal Health, Gilead, Axis, and Union Cafe; and Jogger Sponsors: Honda, Molina, and ViiV Healthcare.
