Mimi Rivard is a nurse practitioner, who for more than 25 years has been involved in the fight against HIV and AIDS. Mimi became a nurse in 1988 and completed graduate school at Simmons College in 1992. She has worked throughout the US, focusing on urban areas including Boston, Chicago and The Bronx, NY. Her particular areas of interest are HIV primary and palliative care for the urban population, work with dually diagnosed individuals (HIV/addiction), pain management and end of life care. She has written and contributed to the literature around HIV Palliative Care and has an additional expertise in treatment adherence.
Mimi has been a member of the HIV Medicine Association Board and a training consultant for the New England AIDS Education and Training Center. She has also had the opportunity to work in several developing countries (Namibia, Swaziland, Ukraine and Liberia) providing education and clinical expertise for medical and nursing professionals around HIV/AIDS care and symptom management.
