A License to Discriminate

1/23/18 – This week, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), under the direction of the Trump Administration, announced the establishment of the Division of Conscience and Religious Freedom, an office that claims its purpose is to protect the “religious freedoms” of healthcare providers.

Don’t be mistaken, this move gives healthcare providers a license to discriminate. This stunt opens the door for denial of care to LGBTQ individuals. No one deserves to be denied access to care because of sexual orientation or gender identity.

This is why Equitas Health exists. Thanks to our mission expansion, today we are providing primary healthcare to thousands of LGBTQ individuals, many of whom were turned away from care elsewhere. Help us continue to provide a safe space where LGBTQ people can access welcoming and accepting healthcare with providers who understand their needs. Show your support for our mission by making a gift of $100, $75, $50 or more today so that we can continue to care for those we serve and fight for those who need us most.

Equitas Health was founded on the principles of compassion and care during the darkest days of the AIDS epidemic. We’ve seen this divisive rhetoric before. Join us in denouncing explicit discrimination and take a stand against those who insist on rolling back our progress.

In solidarity,
